The single-player campaign of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 offers more than just explosive cinematic set pieces and intense gunplay. Players who take the time to thoroughly explore their surroundings can discover hidden safes containing valuable weapons and gear. Finding these stashes provides a distinct tactical advantage and unlocks a special achievement for completionists.
Infiltrating the Cartel Mansion in El Sin Nombre
The first hidden vault appears during the high-stakes stealth mission titled El Sin Nombre. While exploring the upper levels of the cartel compound, you need to sneak into Diego's private bedroom. Inside his room, a large walk-in closet conceals the first locked container.
To bypass the lock, you must use the specific combination discovered on a nearby calendar. Inputting the digits 02-02-19 will successfully pop the door open. Inside, players are rewarded with a silenced weapon and armor plates to aid their escape.
Surviving the Dark Streets in Alone
The remaining hidden stashes are located throughout the tense survival scenario known as Alone. As Soap navigates a hostile city without his standard loadout, resourcefulness becomes mandatory. The second safe is found shortly after escaping a trap inside a local coffee shop.
Locate the manager's office near the back of the building to find the metal box. Input the combination 10-10-80, which matches an anniversary date written on a nearby laptop. Opening this provides a high-powered shotgun that significantly levels the playing field against armored guards.
Securing the Final Stash Before the Escape
The third and final hidden vault is situated deeper within the city streets during the same mission. Search for a vehicle repair shop or auto garage filled with mechanical tools and car parts. A small backroom office contains the final container waiting to be cracked.
Check the nearby workspace to find a customized mechanics chart pointing to the required code. Entering the numbers 37-60-80 will grant you access to the contents. Snagging the final bundle of tools and tactical equipment will unlock the coveted Gentleman Thief trophy.
